This joyful, exuberant, and moving work has become the signature piece of the Chorus. From its blazing trumpets to its lilting melodies to its haunting chorales, this Baroque masterpiece, comprising six individual cantatas, is a most fitting way to celebrate the holiday season. |

Begun in 1868 as one movement ("Libera me") of a requiem to be written by several composers to commemorate the death of Rossini, the Requiem has gone on to become one of the most-frequently performed settings of the grand mass for the dead. The work – completed in 1874 to memorialize Verdi's friend, the author and statesman Manzoni – is one of the most dramatic and colorful settings of this text. It is playfully and lovingly known as Verdi's "greatest opera" due to its dramatic vision. A memorable experience from beginning to end. |
