Wayne
Hobbs, tenor
Wayne Hobbs has become one of the most talked about up-and-coming
tenors in the field of opera. His many reviews declare him as a
tenor with a voice as "pure as spring water."
In the 2007-2008 season, he will be singing the role of Syme in
Lorin Maazel's opera 1984 at La Scala
in Milan. During the same season he will be singing the Mozart Requiem,
Mozart Regina Coeli, and Bach Mass
in B minor with the Vermont Mozart Festival, and making
his Carnegie Hall debut as the tenor soloist in Carmina
Burana and Die Erste Walpurgisnacht with
The St. Cecilia Chorus.
Wayne Hobbs' repertoire includes many roles in the operatic and
oratorio fields. His most acclaimed roles are Tamino in Die
Zauberflöte, Alfred in Die Fledermaus,
Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville,
Ramiro in La Cenerentola and Brighella
in Ariadne auf Naxos.
Mr. Wayne Hobbs has sung with the Boston Pops, Vermont Symphony,
New York Chamber Solosists, McGill Symphony, and the Montreal Symphony,
among others. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University
and has studied voice with Carlo Bergonzi in Italy.
