Robert
Guarino, tenor
Robert Guarino enjoys a busy career as a soloist in opera, oratorio,
recital, and with symphony orchestras throughout the country. He
has appeared with the Boston Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Harrisburg
Symphony, The Opera Orchestra of New York, the Princeton Pro Musica,
and the New Haven Chorale. He has been a soloist at Carnegie Hall
in Bach's Mass in B minor with the National
Chorale; Bach's St. John Passion and Christmas
Oratorio, Mozart's Requiem and Mass
in C minor, and Berlioz's Requiem with
David Randolph and The St. Cecilia Chorus; and Handel's Messiah with
the Masterwork Chorus. Mr. Guarino has also been the tenor soloist
for the National Choral Council's "Messiah Sing-In" at
Avery Fisher Hall. He has appeared many times with the Long Island
Choral Society and was its 1996-97 Artist-in-Residence.
He has sung leading roles with Michigan Opera, Atlanta Opera,
Des Moines Metro Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and the Opera Festival
of New Jersey. He has won critical acclaim for roles spanning renaissance
to contemporary, and from opera to musical theater.
Mr. Guarino's first solo CD was released in 1996 on the Newport
Classic label. It is the first complete recording of 36 Arie
di Stile Antico, a collection of Italian art songs by Stefano
Donaudy. He is also featured on another Newport CD singing songs
of Amy Beach and William Mayer. His many awards include first prize
in both the Washington International Competition for Singers and
the Liederkranz Foundation Awards. He is currently Professor of
Voice at the College of New Jersey. |
