Robert GuarinoRobert Guarino, tenor

Robert Guarino enjoys a busy career as a soloist in opera, oratorio, recital, and with symphony orchestras throughout the country. He has appeared with the Boston Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, The Opera Orchestra of New York, the Princeton Pro Musica, and the New Haven Chorale. He has been a soloist at Carnegie Hall in Bach's Mass in B minor with the National Chorale; Bach's St. John Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Mozart's Requiem and Mass in C minor, and Berlioz's Requiem with David Randolph and The St. Cecilia Chorus; and Handel's Messiah with the Masterwork Chorus. Mr. Guarino has also been the tenor soloist for the National Choral Council's "Messiah Sing-In" at Avery Fisher Hall. He has appeared many times with the Long Island Choral Society and was its 1996-97 Artist-in-Residence.

He has sung leading roles with Michigan Opera, Atlanta Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and the Opera Festival of New Jersey. He has won critical acclaim for roles spanning renaissance to contemporary, and from opera to musical theater.

Mr. Guarino's first solo CD was released in 1996 on the Newport Classic label. It is the first complete recording of 36 Arie di Stile Antico, a collection of Italian art songs by Stefano Donaudy. He is also featured on another Newport CD singing songs of Amy Beach and William Mayer. His many awards include first prize in both the Washington International Competition for Singers and the Liederkranz Foundation Awards. He is currently Professor of Voice at the College of New Jersey.
