Christopher
Creaghan, organist
Christopher Creaghan holds bachelor's and master's degrees in
organ performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where he
studied with McNeil Robinson. For six years he served as music
director and organist for St. Joseph's Church in Greenwich Village,
where he produced a CD recording of the parish's professional choir.
He was previously associate organist for The Church of St. Ignatius
Loyola in New York City, where he frequently appeared with orchestra
on the Sacred Music in a Sacred Space concert series. The New
York Times favorably reviewed his undergraduate recital there.
He has been a finalist in the Fort Wayne National Competition and
the Canadian National Competition, and has recorded for the Canadian
Broadcasting Corporation.
Mr. Creaghan is organist for Temple Israel of New Rochelle, is
a board member of the New York City AGO Chapter, and is on the
faculty of the Mannes College of Music. He has given recitals in
many New York City churches, including The Park Avenue Christian
Church, The Church of the Ascension, St. Mary the Virgin, St. Patrick's
Cathedral and The Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. He has toured
Eastern Europe with The Canticum Novum Singers and has appeared
with The Dessoff Choirs, at the Berkshire Choral Festival, and
at the Bard Music Festival with the American Symphony Orchestra.
He is Dean of the New York City Chapter of the American Guild of
Organists, and has served on the board for several years in various
capacities. |
