Valerie
Bernhardt, soprano
Soprano Valerie Bernhardt has already performed a wide variety
of roles in her young career. She made her Carnegie Hall debut
with Eve Queler's Opera Orchestra of New York in Donizetti's Adelia,
as well as her New York City Opera debut in Janácek's The
Cunning Little Vixen. Since then, Ms. Bernhardt has played
such roles as Mimi (Puccini's La Bohème)
with the Pittsburgh Opera; Valentine (Meyerbeer's Les
Huguenots) with the Orquestra Sinfonica del Estado de Mexico;
Hélène (Verdi's Jerusalem)
with the Opera Orchestra of New York; the First Lady (Mozart's Die
Zauberflöte) with The New York City Opera and Pittsburgh
Opera; and Nella (Puccini's Gianni Schicchi)
with the Boheme Opera of New Jersey.
A native of New Jersey, Ms. Bernhardt has earned two graduate
degrees in voice from The Juilliard School, and has trained at
such recognized opera programs as Chautauqua, Aspen, The Pittsburgh
Opera Center, and the Daniel Fero Vocal Program.
Ms. Bernhardt has gone on to distinguish herself in various competitions,
such as the Metropolitan Opera National Council, Palm Beach Vocal
Competition, and Opera at Florham Vocal Competition, and has won
career grants from both Opera Index and the Sullivan Foundation. |
